white woman

A white woman appeared to harass a group of black men having a barbecue in the designated grilling area at a public park in Oakland, California.

According to video posted by Twitter user @ajwftw, a white woman at Oakland’s Merritt Lake park showed up uninvited to the cookout and proceeded to call police on the group of men, appearing to suggest in her call to police that the men were directly engaging with her and that she needed help (they weren’t). @ajwftw said the woman waited for more than an hour for police to arrive, only to find out that the men were having their cookout in a legal barbecuing area and not in violation of any ordinances.

The woman who called police eventually broke down into tears after YouTube user Michelle Dione (who is also a white woman) relentlessly followed the white woman who called police with a camera in her face. When the woman accused Dione of harassment, Dione pointed out that the entire confrontation began with her calling police on a peaceful group of citizens having a private barbecue in a public area.

“You’re the one that came at us. You’re the one that sat there for two hours, being mean to some two black men because they’re barbecuing,” Dione told the woman at the 21:20 mark of the video. “That’s what’s really going on.

Eventually, police left the scene, since the men barbecuing were doing so in a legally designated area of the park and not bothering anyone else.

The white woman’s call to Oakland police is just the latest in a long string of incidents across the country of fragile white people calling police on black people for doing things like sitting at a table in a Starbucks coffee shop, playing golf, checking out of an Airbnb, and shopping at Nordstrom Rack.
